The Miskatonic courses through a deep, rocky gorge that bisects the town. Waterfalls are found at the foot of Lafayette, Broad, and Fall streets. The gorge is deepest near Federal Street where old mills and deserted factories perch barnacle-like on the sides of the rocky ravine. Only one bridge remains in good working condition, which makes Bridgewater somewhat tedious to navigate, though it's an essential north/south thoroughfare.
Bridgewater is mostly deserted, the once-active mills, factories, and warehouses empty and crumbling. The gold refinery is still operational, however, and the metalworks represent the first new industry in a hundred years, as well as the financial source for Kingsmouth's revitalization. The locals have genuine solidarity, and protect this hope for their future as best they can. There's plenty of scuttlebutt to be had here, for those who care to listen. Locals are taking pains to improve the area, and people are paying attention to what transpires here.

Tarbock is primarily a residential district, houses ranging from hovels to moderately nice brick homes. Only about half of them are occupied; Tarbock is just a bad place to live. The streets are in sad disrepair, though in better shape than some other parts of town. A few streets have streetlights, but even these are widely spaced and often inoperative. While one can hear the talk on the street here, much goes on that is obscured from sight.

Newton is the current commercial center of Innsmouth. It is easily reached by car or bus, and enjoys better streets than most parts of town. It is lit by low-powered incandescent street lamps and little violent crime happens here. Information is available for those who care to look, and there's a fair degree of visibility. While certainly not upscale, Newton is decent overall.
